Moniga <\/strong>del Garda is a small town bathed by the waters of Lake Garda, about two thousand inhabitants, with the arrival of summer triples its population due to the tourists and the people wich here have a second home for holidays, as it offers a mild climate and beautiful beaches. The town of Moniga<\/strong> is located in the province of Brescia, in the territory of Valtenesi<\/strong> born 15,000 years ago. Its territory consists of hills with bedrock mainly calcareous or sandy and its height above sea level does not exceed 300 meters. Once on his hills there were swamps, that have now been cleared and all these soils are cultivated.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

HISTORY<\/strong> OF MONIGA DEL GARDA<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Moniga<\/strong> has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, this news is sure because in locality “Porto”<\/em> was found a dwelling site diver. It is thought that its name derives from the presence of a sanctuary dedicated to Diana Muchina<\/em> a goddess of Athens. In the municipality of Moniga houses a Roman tombstone which was brought to light during the excavations of building renovation. The castle<\/strong> built in the tenth century has been renovated several times, we can see down the hill that slopes down to the lake, formed by a wall topped by the tower, is thought to be dated the fourteenth and fifteenth century. To date, the tower was used as a bell tower of the parish church while inside private homes have been built. Moniga<\/strong> from the administrative side was part of the Province of Brescia and in regard to the church was headed by the diocese of Verona.<\/p>\n
