The building has two aisles of different sizes separated by a series of arches and wall structures of different dimensions; The presbytery is separated from the nave and ends with three apses of different sizes that have no correspondence with internals; in the aisle it is also the bell tower, in the same period of the rest of the church; the cover has two flaps of different dimensions and to view the part below. On the inner walls are frescoes of the late thirteenth century with various Byzantine influences that show scenes from the life of St. John the Baptist, which recall the role of the baptismal church of San Zeno. The facade does not have symmetry, even the entrance is not centered and is topped by a porch with an image of Christ blessing and a cross-shaped window. The church was built using a former sacred place belonging to the adjacent Roman villa, so that during the restoration excavations of the church came to light part of the pavement of the villa.

    foto alberto barcellari

    foto alberto barcellari

[186

1554
post-17543","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-churches-and-sacred","comune-brenzone
["GET
