{"id":17589,"date":"2014-09-07T11:33:34","date_gmt":"2014-09-07T09:33:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gardatourism.it\/castello-di-calvagese-2\/"},"modified":"2018-11-27T06:36:07","modified_gmt":"2018-11-27T05:36:07","slug":"castle-of-calvagese","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gardatourism.it\/en\/castle-of-calvagese\/","title":{"rendered":"Castle of Calvagese"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Castle of Calvagese, built to control the river Chiese, it is located in an elevated position to the east of the river.<\/h4>\n<div>Castle of Calvagese, a small fortress of which little remains, it is still visible a part of masonry on the west side, interrupted by a small semicircular tower and the entrance placed on the north-west corner of the irregular perimeter of the <em>castrum<\/em>. The entrance is open at the base of the tower, formed as always from pebbles of various sizes, collected in the river, with some more regular stone on the outer edge; next to the entrance there is an advanced body like a side rill. On the inside fa\u00e7ade of the entrance a square recess in the wall and an ogive window. The first documents concerning the castle of Calvagese are those concerning a land exchange between the bishop of Brescia and that of Cremona around the years 996 and 1007; then it seems that it passed into possession of Ugo Poncarali and finally, around 1200, to the monastery of Leno, as can be seen in the note of the fiefs of that abbey completed in 1192 where it is written: &#8221; loco Calvazesi extra castrumexcepis armannis&#8221;. Which arimanni were exempt because they depended on the counts of S. Martino.
