From 145 to 1797 except for brief periods Malcesine was ruled by the Venetian Republic who instituted for control of the territory a body called the <strong>Gardesana dell&#8217;Acqua<\/strong>. The town of Verona in 1618 bought the building to give a home to the Captain of the Lake With the expansion and renovation transformed it into what is now one of the most important buildings in the country. The building consists of three floors: the ground floor there are frescoes and decorations Lombard-Venetian, the coat of arms of Verona and the Lake of the Captain of Ludovico Giusti, the side rooms were used for storage, on-call and stables , on the main floor there is a living room, interview room, the private rooms and a chapel dedicated to the Captain s. Zeneone: the first is on the left and is accessed via an entrance stone finely carved in bas-relief, has large windows, a balcony overlooking the lake, a coffered ceiling decorated with leaves and flowers alternating with the coats of arms of Miniscalchi and Lodrons and a cornice painted with putti masks, sea horses and birds, the second room is located on the north side and it was also the antechamber of the rooms reserved for the Captain and the chapel of S.Zenone. From the hall a staircase leads to the second floor where there are servants&#8217; rooms and the chaplain.
