{"id":18399,"date":"2014-09-07T11:41:04","date_gmt":"2014-09-07T09:41:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gardatourism.it\/gli-scavi-romani-2\/"},"modified":"2018-10-24T20:41:55","modified_gmt":"2018-10-24T18:41:55","slug":"roman-excavations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gardatourism.it\/en\/roman-excavations\/","title":{"rendered":"Roman excavations of Peschiera"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Near the church of San Martino, in the center of the village you can visit the Roman remains of a settlement.<\/h4>\n<p>Roman excavations of Peschiera show the remains of an inhabited area probably from the 1st century BC at a point where the important road that led from Verona to Milan exceeded the Mincio; the built-up area was placed in the 2nd century and reused until the 4th century AD; these are probably residential and artisanal units. On the north side we can see the base of a house that opens onto a pavement court. It can be seen that the floor has different floors: mosaic, stone chips and cocciopesto. To the south there are some rooms to which it is difficult to give a destination of use.
