The cave had become a tourist destination since the 1930s and its water was used to feed the municipal aqueduct until the late sixties, when from the analysis it became clear that environmental pollution on the Baldo also affected the purity of the ground. There is no written record of its origin, information is mostly handed down orally by the people of the country and are related to the vicissitudes of a villager who, back from the Americas, excavated the tunnel until he found a first pond, comforted by discovery continued His research, but after about ten years of excavation, he stopped without reaching the bigger one.
