{"id":21157,"date":"2014-09-08T09:06:29","date_gmt":"2014-09-08T07:06:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gardatourism.it\/chiesa-di-san-nicolo-al-porto-2\/"},"modified":"2018-10-17T18:45:43","modified_gmt":"2018-10-17T16:45:43","slug":"church-san-nicolo-al-porto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gardatourism.it\/en\/church-san-nicolo-al-porto\/","title":{"rendered":"Church San Nicol\u00f2 al Porto"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>The Church San Nicol\u00f2 al Porto is a Romanesque church and is located at the old port of Lazise, its construction probably dates from the twelfth century and was dedicated to St. Nicholas of Bari, the protector of sailors.<\/h4>\n<p>Church San Nicol\u00f2 al Porto, the apse was rebuilt in 1595 and now ruined bell tower was rebuilt in the late eighteenth century, while at the same time he was shot down an arcade that joined the church at customs as they become animal shelter and fishing nets. A century later, the church will be closed by order of Cardinal Luigi di Canossa since been abandoned, and subsequently was used for plays and only in 1953 it was restored and reopened for worship, dedicating it to the memory of the fallen of Lazise. His style dates from the fourteenth century and its frescoes testify to the influence of the school of Giotto. Dates back to the previous century the Madonna in Byzantine style of the tabernacle outside brought to light in 1926.
