From the two main lines of the Chizzola, which will later be distinguished in lines of Chiari and Erbusco, divided between them since the fifteenth century with the sons of Francesco and with the sons of Giovanni, who we believe brothers, to Rezzato became owners (perhaps for legacy Faita) Maffeo and Giacomo (No. 1502) q. Lodovico q. Maffeo q. Giovanni. The male sons that Maffeo had from Polissena Bona died without descent, while Giacomo, who married Vittoria Gavazzi (and brought him 73% of the Orzinuovi), created here in his villa of Rezzato, an Academy that welcomed the youngsters for education and at the same time it was a center of culture where the men of study of the time met. A careful survey of the various academies that arose at that time both for education and for the exchange of studies is still to be done and I think it would be very interesting. Giacomo, a doctor and a knight, had many sons, and after the divisions, Rezzato belonged to Agostino (n.1538) who, by Ottavia Barbisoni, had Gio. Battista (n. 1561), husband of Caterina Barbisoni. We already talked about his house in Brescia and we told him about his position in 1641; he had no children, and part of his substance passed to his cousin Paolo (n.1620) son of Giacomo (n. 1587) q. Paolo (1537) brother of Agostino nicknamed and husband of Claudia Ugoni q. Cristoforo. Paolo q. Giacomo da Camilla Negroboni had several sons but only the firstborn Giacomo (n.1644), from Dorotea Gerosa, had Paolo (n.1688), Gerolamo and three sister nuns (there were also two uncles priests and two aunts nuns). In 1723, Paolo had the beautiful house of Brescia, the villa of Rezzato with 180 piò and a manor house with 131 piò in Virle, the house of the Lumetti (not yet the current building) with 75 piò, to which were joined the 203 in common finitimo of Coccaglio. We do not know when this villa left the house. Paolo from Florida Calini q. Faustino had three boys, of whom the family continued only Gio. Battista (n.1717) with Maddalena Calini q. Muzio. Gio. Battista was the builder of the palazzo at the Lumetti (Chiari) and perhaps he was the one to abandon the villa of Rezzato or one of his three sons, after which the family is divided into three branches. Of the four sons of Gio. Battista, Paolo, husband of Bianca Maggi, remained in Italy, but the son of Paolo, Gio. Battista, had only one daughter, Camilla married Mazzotti and the Italian branch died out. The other sons: Cesare, Giacomo and Giovanni passed to Austria and settled there, selling their Italian property. I think therefore that Rezzato, assigned to one of them, was sold around the middle of the last century and destined as a popular home as it is today.

I Chizzola, Historical sources Fausto Lechi, “Dimore Bresciane, in cinque secoli di storia”

[1181
["post-31809","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-characters

Chizzola | Ancient Brescian families | Lake Garda |

<meta name="description" content="Chizzola ancient Brescian families, history of the territory of Lake Garda and its hinterland.
