Carpenedolo
piazza Chiesa, 25013 Carpenedolo Bs

The 18th-century bell tower is located a short distance from the church

The Carpenedolo bell tower or the new tower was built because the previous one, which was next to the old church, had become unsafe and was demolished in 1720. The current one was built in 1726 on a project by the Lonatese architect Paolo Soratini (1680-1764 ), in baroque style, reaches the height of 66 meters and remains separated from the church by a small square, the lead roof of the dome was executed by Michele Piamarta.
In 1726 the priests were instructed by the Municipality to build a new tower for the use of the population, so they bought a private house a short distance from the church in the place of which the tower was built; all the population contributed with alms and donating construction material, but the completion of the tower had quite a few hitches due to lack of funds and ended with an agreement / discount by the Piamarta that, on the occasion of the balance, lent itself for free to the covering also of the statue of San Bartolomeo which is placed at half height in a niche.
