Old Church San Pietro di Torbe

Torbe of Negrar between Valpolicella hills

Old Church San Pietro di Torbe was presumably built in the twelfth century as dependent on the church of San Martino di Negrar, in 1860 the new church was built so it is disunited and given to the private people during the Second World War it is used as a stable and Warehouse, subsequently auctioned. The first building had a single nave with hinged roof and semicircular apse, between the 16th and 17th century it was enlarged with two small chapels, modified the semicircular apse with rectangular vaulted vault, added the sacristy and built the two Side aisles; The central part of the façade has remained with the tuff frame under the sloping roof, some parts of the masonry and the square stone stone bell tower, apart from the cusp and the bell tower. Inside, the floor is made up of large stone slabs and there are some tombstones of the parish priests of Handbags and Noble Manfredi; There are frescoes. The building is adjacent to a small cemetery in a panoramic position on the valley behind.
