Church San Bartolomeo

in the hamlet Vasto of Goito

Church San Bartolomeo is located in the village of Vasto, once swampy and unhealthy area that gave the name “Guasto” (fault) to the locality until 1600. The documents of the church speak of the consecration of the first church and the cemetery next door in 1470, while the bell tower was built in 1621, damaged in 1685 and in 1700 due to the wars. In 1720 appears to have been rebuilt with a design by Giovanni Maria Borsotti and then headed to the martyr saint, whose martyrdom is depicted in the altarpiece. The interior of the church of San Bartolomeo is rich of stucco created by Joseph Canino and James Galli, Mantua, in 1729, also the work of roosters is also on the right side of the altar, with an altarpiece depicting The Virgin and Child with Saints John and Bruno . They are then plaster statues and oil paintings on canvas by Giuseppe Bazzani the beginning of the ‘eighteenth century.
