 Nogaredo is a town in Vallagarina who had become famous for the witch trials

that between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries were tortured in prisons. Nogaredo is located on the right side of the Adige river to 216 meters above sea level, with 1900 inhabitants, dominated by castel Noarna, Nogaredo has managed to maintain its historic center intact, with its ancient houses, the square and views that bring back memories of a life based on peace and simplicity that can still be perceived. Historically, the first news of Nogaredo date back to the eleventh century and its history is linked to the family Lodron sure that he has witnessed historic Palazzo Lodron, remembered as the place of the Inquisition where in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries were held some witch trials, some farmers of the village, but more than ten years ago the story has been transformed into a feast of feminine wich involves the whole community. Beautiful square with its old houses and beautiful portals, with the fountain and the beautiful Palazzo Candelpergher where the town is now located. Near this building you can see the original part of the Parish Church of St. Leonardo, an octagonal chapel, built in 1728. Inside an altarpiece dedicated to the saint by GB Baroni.

Nogaredo is located on the right bank of the Adige river in the province of Trento, in Vallagarina, is located 216 meters above sea level. With its surroundings extends up to 600 meters above sea level to the plateau of Castellano and Bordala. Its name is derived from “nux” (walnut). Dominated by the castle of Noama, Nogaredo offers the possibility of walking and hiking trails and slopes can be covered on foot or by bicycle.

HISTORY OF NOGAREDO

The history of Nogaredo is linked to the dynasty of Lodron and date back to the ninth century. One of the main historical sources of the country and the palace Lodron which was the seat of the tribunal of the Inquisition. Here in 1647 was one of the last witch trials. The territory of the municipality are suppressed in 1929 and had been aggregated to Villa Lagarina, then in 1955 it reconstitutes the municipality including the municipality of Noarna and Sasso. Then in 1929 a fascist decree of the municipalities of Nogaredo, Sasso and Noarna with those of Castellano and Pedersano were aggregated to the municipality of Villa Lagarina, although this union lasted only until 1955, because the people wanted the reconstitution of an autonomous municipality. Saint Lucia: The municipality of Nogaredo includes five fractions among these are Saint Lucia, located on the border with the municipality of Villa Lagarina. To get to Saint Lucia or you can walk from the avenue of chestnut trees Lodrons Palace or Villa Lagarina along the avenue of lime trees. Brancolino: On the right side of the Adige Villa Lagarina towards the town of Isera you arrive in the country of Brancolino.
