Carica dei Carabinieri in Pastrengo is a historical fact

on April 3, 1848, during the first of three wars of Independence, that in the territories of Lake Garda have seen bloody battles between Austrians, Piemonteses and Napoleons forces. On this occasion it was the conflict between the forces of the Savoy King Carlo Alberto and the Austrian forces under General Joseph Radetzky; at the beginning of the first War of Independence, when the Piemontes forces are initially on the west side of the river Mincio and, once conquered the fortress of Peschiera del Garda, King Carlo Alberto decides to advance occupying Austrian fortresses placed on the hills around Pastrengo so closing the access road to the Vallagarina and Val d’Adige to the Austrians and making sure the left flank during the advance towards the city of Verona. The attack of the Carabinieri is a spontaneous event due to the initiative of Major Alexander Negri Sanfront, under the command of three squadrons of the Royal Carabinieri, part of the royal escort, during the operations of the forces of Savoy preparing to attack the Poggio Telegraph, see King Carlo Alberto exposed to a possible enemy fire and decides to attack the enemy lines on Mount Blondes breaking them and creating a diversion that allows other battalions to take over the Poggio Telegraph and convey over the area of Pastrengo, taking it to the Austrians that after several attempts, fold over the Adige River .
