via Pive San Pietro, 25013 Carpenedolo Bs

Church of San Pietro is located southwest of the center of Carpenedolo, along the road that leads to the river Chiese and Calvisano

Church of San Pietro, also called San Gottardo from the locality, it is presumably originally from the tenth century, perhaps from 974, according to a small tombstone found during the work of placing the square in front of it. The name should instead derive from the fact that they were called the churches built on the possessions of the monastery of San Pietro in Serle, then passed in the thirteenth century to the diocese of Brescia. Over time the building has undergone notable stylistic alterations, the most important towards the end of the seventeenth century, when the old apse was demolished and the orientation of the church was built, the small portico was built on the entrance, modified the old ceiling. trusses of the nave and other modifications. A Latin inscription shows the date of 1692 in memory of the works carried out by the rector Pietro Querenti and the date 1794 for the modification and the paintings of the chapel by the rector Giovanni Giacomo Cassa. Inside you can see on the side walls of the frescoes of the 400, which have been recently restored.
