Lazise
via Chiesa 2, 37017 Lazise Vr

The ‘present Church Saints Zenone e Martino was built in place of the one dedicated to St. Zeno.

The previous one was from the thirteenth century and of considerable size, subsidiary to the small parish church St. Martin, who was inside the walls, comfortable and safe for the population but which was destroyed in 1528 by the Lanzichenecchi of Charles V, then became the parish of St. Zeno and took the name of St. Zeno and S. Martin. At the end of the eighteenth century Luigi Trezza it planned expansion in neoclassical style, but the work was soon interrupted by the arrival of the revolutionary troops of Napoleon. They started in 1821 with the construction of the presbytery, apse and bell tower and proceeded thanks to the great participation of the people that reperiva stones from nearby quarries. It was completed in 184 and consecrated by Luigi di Canossa in 1888.Nuovi restoration works are going on for two years and now you can admire the Church of San Zeno and San Martino in his greatness.
