via San Vigilio, 37016 Garda Vr

Villa Canossa is located in Scaveaghe, between Garda and Punta San Vigilio, under the slopes of Mount Baldo.

Villa Canossa is of sixteenth century origin, it belonged to the Carlotti family who, between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, have expanded and transformed it with the magnificent appearance of now and then moved from the center of Garda. The project was by architect Giacomo Franco and was divided into three parts: the protruding part is the main part, which can be reached via a staircase; from this begins the second part which has the same external decoration in neo-Romanesque style; the third part of the building was intended for service personnel. Outside the English park for which olive trees and vines were sacrificed to make room for terracing with flowerbeds. The unfinished part of the project is an octagonal tower on the opposite side to the residential one. In the second decade of the twentieth century, not having the Carlotti heirs, the villa passed to the Marquises Canossa.
