Church San Pietro in Vincoli

The Church San Pietro in Vincoli or Solferino Ossuary is the first church of Solferino and can be reached through an avenue of cypresses and there are two mosaics on the facade of St. Peter and of the Redeemer.

Church San Pietro in Vincoli was chosen as Solferino Ossuary, the place where to keep the remains of those killed during the Battle of Solferino and San Martino, here are brought together without distinction the remains of about seven thousand soldiers, partly exposed in the apse and in part into a deep pit beneath it . Another ossuary dedicated to this battle is to St. Martin.
