Church Saints Pietro and Paolo

Church Saints Pietro and Paolo, Duomo di Villafranca; by an act of Bishop Norandino (1214-1224) of Verona it is apparent that the original building was constructed between 1185 and 1189, the year in which it was already parochial, while in the course of the thirteenth century it becomes pieve to which underline various chapels of both the country and neighboring villages, such as St. John Lupatoto, Quaderni, Cadidavid and others. Towards the middle of the 14th century the building was rebuilt in Gothic style; towards the end of the 17th century until the middle of the eighteenth century the exterior and interior were completely renovated. Between 1769 and 1882 the new church was built with existing forms almost identical to the Church of the Redemptor of Venice, while the old one is sold to the Commune which converted it into parochial theater until its demolition in 1966. In 1890 the bell tower was demolished of Gothic style. Inside there is a work by Domenico Brusasorzi, Venetian painter, the Holy Family with Saint John, the altarpiece by Felice Brusasorzi and a carved wooden choir.
